Master Teachers
EDUC 305: Selected Elementary Teaching Methods and Materials takes place in  the Winter semester of Year 1 in the B.Ed. (AD) program.  Teams of classroom teachers provide instructional modules in Art, Bible, Curriculum Planning, English Language Learners, First Nations/Metis/Inuit Studies, Music, Physical Education/Health, and Social Studies. These Master Teachers are currently employed by Christian schools throughout Canada and seconded by King's to teach these modules to our pre-service student teachers. Each module consists of one week of instruction, with the exception of Curriculum Planning, which runs for two weeks. The intent of each module is to help students acquire basic familiarity with the methods and materials of teaching these subject areas.  EDUC 305 is coordinated with EDUC 351 (the five week Elementary Introductory Practicum).

Mentor Teachers

All courses with a practicum component in the B.Ed. program (EDUC 251, EDUC 351, EDUC 353, EDUC 451, and EDUC 453) are completed under the supervision of certificated classroom mentor teachers and King’s faculty supervisors.    Practicum students are placed with mentor teachers in Public, Separate, and Independent schools in Alberta school districts, primarily in the Edmonton area.
